Your child’s first dental visit is an exciting and important step for both parents and child. Our pediatric dentists and staff are committed to providing a warm, welcoming environment for a positive experience. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a receptionist who will gather necessary information including a medical and dental history form. The form is available from this website and should be printed, completed, and brought to the appointment. Please bring with you all insurance information you have available as well.

You can play a large part in preparing

your child for his/her first visit to the dentist.

We highly recommend reading a book describing a visit to the dentist to your child to help prepare them in advance. We would like to make a few suggestions to prepare your youngster for the initial visit.

  • Present the visit as an exciting experience for yourself and for your child.

  • Tell your child that we will “count”, “brush”, and “take pictures” of his or her teeth. By explaining the exam and the cleaning in these terms, your child will better understand the situation.

  • Try to act relaxed and at ease. Your child will probably sense any anxiety on your part.

  • Avoid negative phrases such as “hurt”, “drill”, “pull”, and “shot”.

This initial examination involves nothing uncomfortable and should be perceived by the child as non-threatening. It is our job to make this the most positive experience possible. The appointment concludes with a final consultation with the dentist to discuss any further questions or necessary dental treatments.
